The legal Procedure of Corruption

Wow, this is actually the normal procedure of American politics now, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton left a voicemail for a lobbyist in which she brazenly begs for a "contribution."

It's a not-so-subtle reminder of how legalized bribery is the standard operating procedure in America politics. Until money is taken out of politics, this kind of corruption will only get worse and worse.

Well if this doesn't convince how corrupt governments are, I don't know what else will convince the sheepe.

As a rep for the District of Columbia, all I can say is thank goodness she doesn't have voting privileges.

This may not be quite on topic, so please excuse my comments: a number of States and many in Congress are pushing to overturn the Supreme Courts' ruling re: corporations ($$$) being treated as individuals (donations).

It's long overdue, and I was horrified about the decision from day one. I don't think a lot of Americans were paying attention or aware of just what the right wing and the Citizens United group were espousing. I don't care how it's done, even if it takes a Constitutional Amendment to eliminate it, along with the back-door now front-door "discretionary funding" fiasco, and these Corporations hiding under "C" tax free entities.

would that mean, the Unions couldn't spend Money like Water on Candidates any longer either, since that Decision applies equally to them as well?

Conrad, I'm not sure what you're asking me about specifically? I have always supported the Unions generally speaking. It was only through Unionization during the 30's, 40's and 50's that made the so-called "American Dream" possible, ultimately giving rise to a prosperous middle class which in turn allowed America to become the strong Nation it is today.

That being said, previous to the Supreme Court ruling we knew where the money was coming from! Albeit, often times Unions used spurious tactics in raising it, and no doubt did the same in influencing the American political landscape, at least we knew who the beast was.

yes, on topic. I will drink for that. Most of us dont pay attention to what is going on in any government. we still live in the the mentality of "they" and "we".

This doesn't surprise me.

In fact I'm surprised that it surprises anybody.

Bribery is the rule, not the exception.

AIPAC for example, has been blatantly bribing Congress members for decades...and the bribe money doesn't even come out of their pockets. Congress gives billions to Israel and then Israel gives a few million back to pay for the bribes.

Or look at Obama. He got big millions as campaign contributions from the Wall Street banks and then gave them a trillion dollar bailout bonus.

This Congresswoman is small-fry as far as corrupt politicians go.
