How do you react when you've realise you've been lied to?

Whether it's a white lie or not. Do you confront them? Do you forgive them, knowing we are only human and we all make mistakes? Do you discontinue the relationship?

Hopefully they are out of reach when I discover it. I have been known to get in trouble if they ain't. Mayhem and all that. If a tongue tells lies, cut it out. Use whatever broken bottle or steak knife is handy. If they are too far away for that, hopefully I will have calmed down a little before I see them again. Even then, they no longer considered a part of my world and I discontinue as much as possible with them. Forgiving things is the job of the Gods, not me.

But two wrongs dont make a right.
Besides, why waste your energy and time when you could just end the relationship if you don't want to forgive? No offense, but that seems a bit immature.

Touchy, touchy! I can forgive someone's lie, if they aren't a compulsive liar and there is no need for a hitman, I can do my own dirty work, lol, if needed.
Of course I, like anyone else, has been lied to.

Just a tip: Just because I post a particular thread does not mean it pertains to me personally. I get my ideas for threads in various ways.
Some people don't seem to understand this and often get the idea these threads are about myself and 9 times out of 10, they have nothing to do with me personally.professor Just sayin.

if i discover someone has lied to me...i confront them.
if it's a casual acquaintance, i don't bother and walk away. but if it's a relationship i want to keep...i do try to talk to the person about it to try to understand why they have lied.

i find it hard though to let go...i remember it...and it undermines my ability to trust them. takes me a long time. i don't think lieing to me is ever for my own best interests, no matter how it's dressed up.

i think most lieing is fear based. fear of losing something or someone, fear of not having or getting 'enough'...whatever the enough is...whatever the fear is.

and i wonder...if they lied once, will they lie again? or have they lied before and i just didn't know it...

but...
it's those times i've lied to myself that cut the deepest.
