There was a contest through Harper Collins regarding Advance Reader's Edition of "the Ghost Bride".... and people entering had to write in about a book club. I said it was not a book club but told them about how some cancer patients and volunteer drivers would share books and talk about the books.

I am reading my copy of the book, that Harper Collins sent along with 2 copies donated to Cross Cancer. nerd

P.S. We did not win the contest, but were sent advance copies anyway.
It made my day when those books arrived.

Shots could be heard from sun up to sunset, like fire practice, also the screaming of the people who were held there, sometimes you could see the guards taking out body parts.

I'd love this thread, but I've been using a kindle for the last 18 mths so no books laying around and a kindle doesn't do page numbers doh

Does a magazine/travel guide thingy count? It only goes up to page 46 so I'll drop the 7 and look at page 16.......

"I shall call you Chendana," I decided. It is the Malay word for sandalwood, for the original carving had been done in that fine-grained, fradocilely while I clambered up, and her broad back was as stable as a rocking horse. "

Glengirl: Sorry, infrequent visitor these days so a very late reply to your question....

The Kindle just opens up at the page you stopped reading. Even if you go back to "home" and look at another book, when you return to any book you have been reading, it'll be at the page you left it....ingenious invention

I went through the whole "I love the feel of a book" but bought mine primarily for holidays. Last holiday I took, I read five books....my case was over the weight limit without having to carry 5 books with me too

Agree with you Glengirl. Love the feel of a real book but carrying around actual books gets too heavy. (My house is not big enough for all the books I'd love to read of own.)

They didn't care about economical development if it meant unemployement and deterioration of the environment. According to a poll by the PRC, 43% of americans thinks globalization is positive, meanwhile 52% thinks the opposite.
