Hope your son understands the Aust Tax System, because if your son worked say four weeks in July before losing his job, he would have been taxed on an annual income projection figure.
Like-in say he was taxed on his pay during July AU$6000.00.
And he is/has left Australia, and won't returning in tax-year 2013/2014, the rate taxed was taxed on an annual income yet he only actually earned a lesser annual sum; probably would place him in a much lower tax rate if any, so he needs to file a tax return asap explaining that he has left to country and won't be returning. The tax department will then in two or three days will send him a cheque for the overpaid amount of tax...
