So I send a text to the community alert number "warning white van about"

It's proven very successful. giggle

Congrats man , me too . While they are seemingly 'at pains' to say that speed camera vans are made more visible to us the paying motorist they'll never get past the 'c@*t behind the bush' image also associated with the cops when they go about 'collecting'. That said however it's a dirty job and if there were no regulation of road speed then I think we'd all throw some more caution to the wind .

traffic control is one thing, rediculous speed limits are another, the road from coonagh cross down to the dock road in limerick, 60kmph down to the jetland turning, bad enough, then a mile of 50kmph on a 3&1/2 lane black top with half a mile visibility, and speed signs the size of desert plates...god help anyone not familier with the area....
and in contrast i remember seeing a boureen in co monaghan which i sware to god was an unmade dirt track and it had a 80kmph sign up, i defy a rally driver to manage 50 or 60 down the said road....

Yea they d badly want to audit the roads properly....not just go by class of road...theres national secondary roads down here that are not fit for 80k let alone the 100k they re set at while there are regional roads out there well capable of taking the 100k ...and as for automatically downgrading national roads when they re bypassed ....lunacy in places

Funny, i was talking to a guy last night who had sold his gixxer 1000 last year and now has a more sensible bike, he misses it so much and will buy another one next summer, i like the last of the 900 blades, i've heard bad stories about the 1000RR's, too light and steering way too sensitive for Irish roads, fast as fu€k though laugh

My experience of motorbike riders has been less than positive. I see a lot of hem speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. Very rarely have I seen them wear high visibility clothing or a Sam Browne belt.

At least you "saw" them, hey, i drive for a living, large van, i drive with my dipped headlights switched on during daylight (everyone should IMO), i witness car drivers who for whatever reason, still fail to see a big white van with 2 dipped headlights on!

As for the speeding motorcyclists, i see the same thing, not very often i must add but the odd idiot for sure, they are in the minority though and most, unfortunately, meet their doom, sooner or later.

I don't agree with the price but this new EDT that new car licence holders must undertake is something that i agree with, i think it should go one step further though, as with motorcycles, new car licence holders (after passing their final test) should be restricted to a certain engine cc and/or power output for the 1st two years. In reality, a person of 18 or under (?) can buy, for example, a high powered Subaru Impreza and insure and drive it, a train wreck in the making!
