I believe some bloke reported that a firm in the UK got group interviewees to dance.....he was told after he would nt fit in!!!

These days it's tricky. Often they might already have someone lined up anyways but they just go through the motions following their own procedures and statutory requirements. So this can end with a lot of mixed signals where the interviewers think you're great but the ones above them already have it sorted out.
As for what they're looking for, they sit there and they imagine what you'll be like sitting in that seat where the last man/woman sat and they'll try imagine how you'll get on with the others there that you'll be working with. They'll try see can you fit into their team already. Try to be somewhat pleasant and reasonable but still come across as with a bit of backbone.

If you get the job it went well - the boss is looking for the person who is capable of solving his problem ie) Are you capable of doing the job....for his benefit

I'm more than capable........but i dont think i will get the job...there were 2 people doing the interview...asking all the usual questions.....I anwser and just as the answer is out of my mouth you say to yourself why did i say that that's not what i wanted to say.......so i f###ed that up.......

l always noticed when im anxious going for a interview I get on fine im more focused , but if I thought I done reasonably well and over confident I don't actually get the job.They know what they want they just want to see how bad you need and want the job. Its good to have nerves going into n interview it shows you want it .what are employers looking for when they interview you??

I hope i came across like that.......i need and want a job.being out of work long enough.....2yrs 2 months 3days but who's counting.......

B / compitance and commitment, a team player but capable of indipendant action, preparedness for seeing a task through from inception to completion, customer/client focus, profit awareness and generation, time concious but not a clock watcher, work flexibility...
....not to much to ask for...

flexible enough that u will come in on ur day off when they need, or stay late....
They also hope that you haven't got 15 yards of slime trailing from your naked body as u spit fire from them and threaten to eat their young..

like maddog said..we have gone back to pre celtic tiger ireland..who you know being more important..the job could already be taken, dont fret if you dont get the job.
its a bit like a date.. show what you can bring them, be you, and lay off talking about your ex too much

On a positive note..you are part of the 3% selected for an interview...also why not do a follow up email with a review of what was discussed and re-answer your screwed up answer...nothing to lose and it shows you are really interested in the job

just be urself..and remember you are interviewing them to see of they suit you, ask questions..that shows your interest way more than anything else.

Usually employers give you some sort of feedback on how they felt the interview went, that's how it's happened with me anyway but I guess it depends on the role/company you're applying for a position for/with. I'd say that you'd have a fair idea yourself how things went, based on vibes in the room and being aware of your own confidence levels. At the end of the day you can only be yourself.
Employers are looking for the right person for the job - from their point of view. If it's what you really want then I hope you get the job!
