After posting in Merri's topic .
I got to thinking its really wonderful (being sarcastic there) how people in our lives perceive us .
My co workers think of me in one way and that's how Michael is at work !! They can not see me in any other way . Hell someone once said you don't appear the type to actually fish . I'm like in my head I was spending so many hours a week knee deep in West Lakes fly fishing!!
Anyway no one expects me to wear bling !!
No one expects me to be able to talk to women!!
No one actually thinks I'm capable of anything other than being a grumblebum!!!

And that's my life be what everyone wants or be

hey Micky, many think they know who we are but they seldom see the whole package.

My good friends know me to be someone completely different to what people who dont know me as well. Some workmates might have a better idea than others but they also know my work ethic and that is how they know me.

When I know people face to face, when I feel comfortable I know I do behave differently, way differently to what people see on here in fact!

Perceptions and imaginations can be way different to the reality

I don’t have the luxury of a secret life outside of work, most people I work with are very sociable.

Hi Micky..wave

Everyone perceives others by the way they work, views, talk, and rarely workmates see who you are in your own free time.

For me... as it turns out... I am not too much different between work and home..wine

I sort of have become a product of my works values, and being they are good values... I don't have a problem..

applause

eg.. work motto is caring, compassion, valuing people, nonjudgemental, understanding cognitive differences, respectful relationships, but the underlying value is showing people how to, not doing it for them... empowering I guess..

But being a practising believer of all of the above, has, I admit, not always worked out well in the dating life for me.. blues doh

I am either not understood, or perceived as naïve, because I tend to use the same communication mode all the time.

sigh Never mind...

Hi Micky, do you want your work colleagues to see you in a different light? dunno

I'm in my current job a year now and I have nice colleagues, but I don't socialise with them outside work because most are just in a different stage of life (e. g. married, kids, not going out much etc).

I'm sociable at work do's but otherwise pretty happy to keep my private life to me. wave

Perhaps I'm trying to say my co-workers don't see me as I would like to seen ! So tired of being just seen as a guy who uses his muscles and is grumpy !!
Today was interesting as I was the brunt of some jibes due to me getting my Ear pierced !! Everything from the wrong Ear for over 40's to why at your age . Its just wrong to do at 50 PFFTTT
I did it because I wanted to !!!

We really don't have work do's . There is a company wide social club but I dropped out awhile ago . And my workplace have even stopped doing xmas !!

But next month company wide awards night !!
Mickyj is going in fully blinged up rolling on the floor laughing

Of course it's your choice.

It's also my choice to prefer guys who choose not to wear jewellery.

That's what each to their own means.

NotAB, having grown up in the early 70s where a lot of bling was part of being in the 'cool scene,' and did wear the necklaces and the flower power gear, no I do not wear these days anything but the signet ring my Mum gave me.

Unfortunately, it does happen to be on the "married" finger and may have some reason to why I am still single. Been told by some ladies that I should not wear it there.

I do have a preference for having my hair a bit longer than most people over the last 30 years. I did have to put up with a lot of crap on the Sydney social scene because of this.

"Oh, you live in the Sydney Western suburbs. You have long hair. You must ride a Harley?"...."No, you moron, just because I live in the Western Suburbs and have long hair does not mean I have tatts and a Harley."frustrated

People are too predudicial about appearances. Why can't people accept us the way we are?

It's a choice, some guys prefer blondes or brunettes....women that wear heels....skirts rather than trousers.

Some guys would rather date a female that doesn't wear a lot of make up, others like "dolly birds".

I prefer a guy without bling. That's not being prejudicial, it's personal preference.

Luckily there are also women who couldn't give a toss whether a guy jangles more than they do or not. :)

I wasn't having a go at you not a blonde .
As you say each their own!!

Me I feel like I've been in prison for 21 years and my divorce was my full pardon!!
I was under so much control even the ex mother in law would give me lectures of using pepper on my food !!
And yet apart from the pepperrolling on the floor laughing I couldn't see what was going on!!

Now I'm free I'm enjoying myself . Hell I was never allowed to go out for coffee to quote her "waste of money you have coffee at home". First thing I did was go out for coffee (given up coffee now just drink Tea lol still go out for it }
Hell I told a co worker I go out for breaky Saturdays her reply "what a waste of money you can have that home " .
That's what I put up with for so long !!

I'm free doing what I want
And I don't jingle NAB but I sure as hell SHINE baby !!!

So why did you put up with it for so long and not stand up for yourself?

If it was for an easy life then that was also your choice wasn't it?

I wish you all the best with your new found freedom.

Micky just be you, it is all any of us can be
If that isnt good enough for some, if some thing you are or do turns someone off, well they are the one that makes that choice

we, each of us, can only make choices for ourselves, not for anyone else.

you be who you want to be Mickythumbs up
