Marketing ploy that dives into the Irish drinking culture and the stereotype of the drunk Irish. Why are we celebrating Arthur Guinness? What did alcohol ever do for Ireland other than bring heartache and pain. Why would the government even allow this! Could you imagine a Marlboro Cowboy day?doh

No I didn't see Christys tribute. I presume he is taking the piss out of it?laugh

It was a marketing idea by some bright spark in a meeting one day and the Irish have fallen for it hook, line and sinker!

The A&E's will be busy tonight but at least it is pissing rain in Dublin so there won't be much drinking on the streets.

I'll celebrate this marketing ploy gleefully drinking drinking

My local has pints for €3 tonight. The normal price is €4.85. I've worked out that with some careful pacing I can save myself at least €18.50 tonight or over 35%. In these days of austerity that is not to be sneezed at. wink

I would say, the only ones that are celebrating, are the one's that need a new excuse to use to drink again today.

Honesty, I don't know how there allowed to get away it.
