I would say you'd have a right to, but that's my 'moral' view of it sort of, while when I look at it practical, I could see how the school would refuse it to avoid further bad blood?
Might misunderstood your question though blushing

and hope you had a great Halloween ^^

Why did you tell it to another parent? I confronted the school directly when my oldest seemed overwhelmed to start of in a new school with the homework load. Told them I would let him do as much as he wished to do, and once he'd have enough that would be it. Children have a right to spare time and to being children. The school accepted that, but maybe I was just lucky. Still if you have concerns, take the school up on it, friendly but determined?

Well, some poeple are like this, we all have had dealings with that type some point I'd say uh oh and the school of course will not release a name, that's obvious, but HOW did the school approach you on this? They may just wanted to make sure all was okay? And whether you may had thoughts on the homework load they were willing to listen to?

I've had talks with the school already about her homework and the fact she is finding stuff hard but it's like banging my head off as wall.
I was more or less told I should be careful what I say, I told the principal that it was my private page and who ever it was should have come to me. My page is private to friends only so it's narrowed down a bit but I can't ask each person individually.

My children are 11 and 10. 30mins max including spellings and tables my two spend of homework. Learning spellings and tables is more important than endless writing. 5 and half hours in school is enough.

Yeah chances are you won't find out, and whoever it was has some serious issues in my view, but you get them unfortunately like that blues So sorry, that is an upsetting thing for sure blues

I absolutely hate the system, back then when my oldest struggled I told them that any system that would make a child feel like it is not 'good enough' or makes it begin to hate learning is a wrong system. They saw the point and allowed me to have him do just as much as he felt he could handle at the time. It worked fine, he kept enjoying learning and eventually finished with fantastic grades, not because of pressure but because he loves to accumulate new knowledge. I always told my lot they were not learning to make me look good, or the school, or a teacher, but just for themselves, and that even if they didn't like a subject, they should just take it as an exercise of learning to learn, and that no grade could ever tell how 'good' they truly were, and that Einstein was proof of it grin
Worked well - one of my lot now is even heading for a doctor title in cosmology at one of the best unis in the world, and that without ever having been pushed at all head banger but I always told them I'd not care if they'd end brushing the streets, just as honourable a job, and only enjoying what one does matters gift

I totally agree, a child should be allowed to learn at his/her ability instead of pushed and taught to hate learning. Once you hate the learning process you can't get out of their fast enough and I'm living proof of that, left school at 13 convinced I was stupid and went back to college at 33 and now have a degree.

I don't care if she's a doctor or a cleaner as long as she's happy.

I make rules in my home that's what I told the school. They are learning nothing if there overwhelmed. Might be time to call a meeting with your daughter's teacher and Principle.
