Look, as a wise (young) man once said to me, the cows, sheep etc are being killed so we can eat them, so, it'd be a bit disrespectful if we didn't use their skin, its like they'd be rightly pi$$ed off if we discarded that! So, why not make lovely jackets and shoes n stuff from it??

Just for the record I don't eat meat.
I guess it also depends on how the animal is being killed.
Some deaths are more merciful than others.
