rebel2: Bod posts a lot of pictures of the area i have worked in,so its nice to recognise them. I spent most of my career working in the city though.
Bugga... I bet you were happier in the country...
Bodleing took me to those Derwent Valley places... he drove me around to look at the beauty from the hills and into the valley... I spent some of my holiday in Manchester, and he was a wonderful touring host...

I can imagine he was excellent. He comes across as a really nice man,and obviously appreciates his surroundings. If i knew you were flying into Alicante,i would have arranged a special greeting for you!
bodleing2: Hi T, do you mean the River Wye at Ashford or Derwent Reservoir?
The reservoir, suicides! Bod! The Goyt valley was a "favourite" spot for it as well. The coroner from Manchester, ended his life there. He was either from Manchester or Stockport,i cant remember. I have attended over 250 suicides,so i get muddled up! I lived in Chapel-en-le-Frith,then Buxton, then down to Ashbourne to work in Derby.

I was unfortunate enough to witness a fatality in Derwent reservoir. Tried my hardest to save him, but alas in vain.
rebel2: Sorry to hear that Bod.There is nothing so frustrating when,no matter how hard you try,you cannot save that life. I understand the feeling you have.
Maybe you were around at that time, it was around 92. I received a commendation from the Derbyshire police for my efforts, not that it meant anything to me at the time, in fact I felt more like a terrible failure.

Thats made me do my maths! In 92 i was a sergeant in Derby...i think Bod,they dont give those commendations away lightly,so you have my respect. What you felt is normal,i understand. People like you who are willing to try and help in those situations are well respected by the emergency services.
