The question our century puts before us is: is it possible to regain the lost dimension, the encounter with the Holy, the dimension which cuts through the world of subjectivity and objectivity and goes down to that which is not world but is the Mystery of the Ground of Being. - Paul Tillich

The beginning and end of that query aren't related. One would have to believe that there is anything "HOLY" in the first place to be able to 'regain' it. Seeing as how we spend our entire lives growing away from 'what is' or 'what was' most aren't likely to even pose the questions to steer them towards anything related to 'being'.

Bottom line ... no one cares. (no, not your post, meaning in general)

Now all the hypocrites are bound to post about how they care and ponder this all the time. grin

You seem to post these philosophical bits all the time and never offer anything up as far as your opinion, why's that? confused

Faith for me is ebb and flow. It wavers in it's strength and intensity. Like everything else in life, I can be distracted by a plethora of outside sources. The main thing though is that God always gets me to my kness, whether I want to or not. I don't always get to pick the time and place. Society's observance that; "we are losing religion", is a statement more to the deminished power that the traditional churchs' used to hold over the masses. People are more free to choose what they believe and how they profess that belief. As a Liberal Catholic, it is my humble opinion that faith is not like riding a bike. If I don't use it, I'll lose it.

I'd rather wait for a well-considered, intelligent reply and then engage in debate.

Holy Oh who cares....!!!!

Tell us Gibber, do you never ponder your own existence and seriously not think that none of us do as well? As in, where am I going and how am I growing?

I do not understand how "hypocrite" got put in the equation either....

I agree, where does hypocracy come in? A balanced person of faith doesn't expect themselves or others to be perfect. A balanced person of faith also doesn't see those without faith to be "missing the boat" on something. Im of the mind that what works for me may not be someone else's way to live. There is no "them and us". Only the extreme thinkers on both sides of the spectrum (believers/non-believers) fear or distrust the other. To me my religion is a personal thing, not a cult.

I became a believer the day I became a mother. They were the closest thing to God.

You're right. Stupid choice of words on my part. While I'm quite obviously not 'religious' I do respect what you're saying.

I don't regret the fact that it actually geenrated some response though.

And so, I will answer the question. Losing my religion? Yes, religion is a man made concept and I have slipped away from that level of thinking where it is up to a group or faction intrepretations and ideals.

Moving away from my spirituality? (call it Holy if you wish) On the contrary. I believe that we have only use a thread in the tapestry of our brain and that we will all eventually be lead to a higher level of consciousness and awareness some day. If one wants to call that divinity or any other name, so be it. I also believe that we are all on a journey towards a better plane and towards inner peace. For some that is Holiness...

HOLY

1. specially recognized as or declared sacred by religious use or authority; consecrated: holy ground.
2. dedicated or devoted to the service of God, the church, or religion: a holy man.
3. saintly; godly; pious; devout: a holy life.

Spirituality isn't holy.

My problem with the original post is the use of the word HOLY. Holy isn't up for interpretation. It's a pointed, specific query.

So if one reads the query there is nothing to think about. God is the answer. Anyone who ponders the query isn't religious because religion has already handed you all the answers. 'Heaven' forbid anyone of any particular religion question said religion. To be 'holy' and question the beliefs you claim to believe makes you a ... oh, guess I better not say it.

I'd LOVE to debate your views on it but I don't have any better answers to counter it with so I'm unable.

Yes, it's easier to reply than to post an original idea tongue

Your turn grin
