OK. so palm oil is going to wipe out the orangutans in a decade or two but palm oil is in just about every product on the shelfs in our supermarket. To stop using it now would be like turning off the electricity. Do we go back to using castrol oil and clog up our arteries or do we kill off the Indonesian economy , the orangutans and the viable child labour exploitation of a dollar a week pay.

I say don’t Palm us off yet there are more Palm trees in Amazon. grin

It's not that healthy, full of trans fat and can be a cause of heart disease.

Not just the orangutan that is suffering either. This destruction of the forest is also harmful to other animals and indigenous people.

Torless: I dont understand how the PKE gets onsold etc no money changes hands etc?
no money changes hands till its delivered . First guy has a balance day end of march he signs contract for January next year . His tax day comes and goes so he sells contract (still no PKE delivered) . Next guy signs up with a end of June date ,his date comes and goes with a large liability for the PKE reducing his taxable income . Because PKE is needed it will be delivered and eaten after Jan by somebody's cows .
