jac379: So, which of the people who have been held and tortured in Guantanamo were involved in the twin towers?
Bearing in mind many have been kept for years without charges, evidence against them, or access to legal services?
Have you any idea what they do to people there?
Imprisoning guilty people is one thing, persecution based upon race and religion is another, True.
If I'm a do-gooder for believing in the justice and humanity, then so be it.
but they were not pick off the streets...because of race/religion.....but though fighting with the fanaticts........they chose their side......so be it.......jmo.
truheart1941: ....do the do.gooders......of this world ever wonder about all the people that died in the twin.towers.....who sufferd and died....by the hands of thos people . who they are so worried about.....in thos camps......perhaps they should be all set free to rejoin their brothers......in arms......to fight again in the name of peace...its just so easy to blame the yanks is,nt it.
Twin Towers death toll 2,996 Iraqi Civilian death toll 112,000+ If you are making a point, it is not coherent.
If the people detained in these camps are guilty - why have they not been put on trial? And why was the camp set up outside the jurisdiction of US law to circumvent US human rights legislation? These are the real questions

No actually, many were picked up off the streets for their race and religion.
I haven't got time to find anything now, Pete, but maybe go and have a look at some of the documentaries and interviews of people who have been detained. The grounds for some people's arrest were spurious.

GUZMAN1: Doctors and nurses working under US military orders could do a better job with any kind of truth serum, instead being collaborators of brutality.
bull, I find it an unfortunate choice of wording even if it holds some truth. But that bull also holds plenty of seeds and fertile ground to repeat a growth of humanities greatest poisonous genocide ethnic cleansing civil-war war mass torture and murders or to put it simpler, a total decay of ethics and morals.
Guantanamo is planting the seeds. The rain to water it will follow eventually. Justice is not on the cards here. Some popular willingness for vengeance is, one that will only serve the political cause of some little dictators and tyrants waiting behind the curtains .
bull? no. An incomplete and incorrect comparison, yes.
Turning a blind eye as if any inhumanity is less inhumane than another and therefore justifiable is a dangerous move. Wir haben es nicht gewußt, it did not come out of nowhere
The US has no moral high ground to stand on when it comes to the use of WMDs, torture, biological and chemical agents, and drugs, not only against enemy soldiers but also against innocent civilians.
Torless: Most of what we hear in any media outlet is released by PR consultants. There are very few investigative journalists left who have the courage to stand up...Its always good to see where the money trail leads.
Gary Webb was a good example of a fearless investigative journalist. He exposed the CIA's involvement in smuggling cocaine from Central America to the US. Cocain that fueled the crack epidemic in US cities and financed the CIA's mercenary "Contra" army in its war against the duly elected socialist Sandinista government of Nicaragua.
At first his report was praised as being a great job of investigative journalism.
Then the forces of darkness launched a massive campaign to discredit the story. Under pressure, Webb's own newspaper backed away from the story and Webb was fired and blacklisted.
Undaunted, he published a book fully documenting all the evidence from his investigation. Not only was the book a success, Webb had a signed contract to write another book and was negotiating with a major studio to make a documentary movie about the CIA's involvement in drugs and covert wars.
But then just when things were looking up, Gary was found dead in his home with two gunshot wounds to his face. A 38 caliber revolver was found nearby. The coroner ruled it to be a suicide, thus quashing any investigation.
You gotta hand it to Gary. He had a lot of determination. Re-cocking the pistol for that second shot must have been really difficult.
