I find myself getting bored reading them Id prefer
a blank canvas to figure out for myself

its just more interesting that way
I wouldnt want to know the plot
before ive seen the movie

also people can put anything on their profile
and youre supposed to take them at face value

You say you dont like to know the plot of a movie, well, look at it this way, would you buy a book by just looking at the front cover? I doubth it, you read the little synopsis on the back, gives you an idea of what youre getting into! laugh

I tend to agree with you on that one, not that I've read many profiles yet, I'm still finding my feet here laugh

Thing about text is that it is more than likely just what you think people want to hear, up-selling yourself, far better to find out for yourself rather than judging someone on how they described themselves in a moment of madness

They should have an option here to create a crossword, with cryptic clues. That'll keep you out of mischief.

Long walks on the beach? In Ireland? You'd think by the amount of people claiming this, the beaches would be thronged.

Everybody likes nights in, nights out. Everybody likes to eat meals. Everybody would like sunsets, if we had enough of them. Everyone would like to find their forever-friend.

It's difficult to write a profile on yourself, but it's like that interview question : what are your weaknesses? The hardest question to answer, and certainly won't be revealed on profiles...

I am going to put myself up for a raffle and sell tickets - might as well increase my bank balance in the process ;-)

I took a chance - once. And only because someone knew him and could vet him for me, lol. His profile said:

Wants to meet someone for a serious relationship. Likes dating, going to the theatre, movies, out for meals, blah blah.

He sounded active enough, and as I do enough "nothing" on my own, I thought it might be nice to have someone to go out with for a change. As in OUT.

I dated him for one month. In that month he did no more than plant himself on my couch, eat my food, and bored the hell out of me. Oh, he also didn't speak much. And was only available on a Sunday. Er?

better off being totally you sal.. least the right person will read it and want more..which is what a profile aims for really.

thats the thing, i used to have the usual profile everyone else has and then after a few mails id get the "i dont think you're right for me" or the classic read and ignore but that doesnt seem to have happened half as much since i changed it so it worked and yeah the right person has wanted more so far grin
