Why should there be drug testing, what he, or anyone does with their time off is nobody else's business. Not that I agree with using crack/coke, but still.

The real problem here seems to be the media, keeping the controversy alive, as they usually do. What is truly sad is that "news" has become entertainment, and in some cases, nothing more than gossip.

I hope he stays in office, if for nothing else than to spite those that are out to get him. grin

laugh He is already out, no Mayoral powers left. As you know
Companies have drug testing, I don't know where one would draw
the line, do you? Airline pilots, bus driver's etc.

Only a few of his discretionary powers were removed by council vote. Rob Ford is an intelligent man and has done a lot for the city of Toronto but that does not excuse his shenanigans away from office. He is in the public eye. I think the right thing for him to do is to receive the proper help for his addictions. There is mandatory drug testing in place for many professions and often times leads to dismissal. I don't think he will be dismissed but it is almost a surety he won't be mayor of TO. in the next election. JMO

I don't agree with drug testing, it's an invasion of privacy. What someone does on their own time outside of work is their own business.

While at work is another matter, whether it be drugs or alcohol, or even a lack of caffeine or nicotine. laugh

The funny thing with all the testing is, the only thing that stays in your body in any measurable quantity is cannabis. The rest is flushed out naturally in no time, and even faster with the use of certain flushing agents, or it can be easily masked as well.

Unless you were doing rails and swilling whiskey within a few days of being tested, it isn't going to show up with the more common testing procedures. If you smoked a joint a month ago, guaranteed it'll be on the test results.

Drug testing is a good idea in theory but would not be as effective as you may think. Crack Cocaine do not stay in a persons system for as long as pot thus tests can be easily beaten. Drug testing in western Canada only served to turn a generation of pot smokers into crack addicts. The drug problem is bigger than ever and there is no sign that its going to change anytime soon.

They need to find a different way of being able to test more effectively for certain drugs.

Yep, Ft.McMurray has turned into the drug capital of Canada, and it's mainly crack, along with meth, and then booze as usual. There are some that smoke pot as well, but they usually work for companies that don't test. Mainly because they're afraid they'll lose their entire workforce if they do. laugh

Drug testing is a waste of time, the ones it hurts the most are the ones that smoke pot, not the boozers, crack or meth heads. After working along side all of them, I'd take the one that smoked a joint the night before and passed out early, than any of the others. smoking
