Yes I mean this one -----> comfort

I have read it now a few times that people find it annoying, and I am sort of confused about that.
I mean, first of all its description if 'comfort'. Now some may would say another patting one on the head or what not is not comfort, but the smilie to the left looks sad, and afterwards it looks happy, so for the smilie in that emote, it clearly seems to be comforting.

And as for my own self, I find it actually a relief when someone acts a bit condescending towards me. I find to be humbled comforting. When I stand outside at night and look up at the stars, that humbles me too, the vasteness of the universe.. our still so limited understanding of so many things... It makes me my own self feel that little bit less important, and through that also my worries and pains. If another treats me in 'condescending' ways, that too can remind me that I am not the last word in wisdom, that I only have views and no way of telling how ultimately close to the truth they are. When another pats me on the head, it leads me to remember such and it comforts me, without ever rising any form of defiance within me.

Why does this seem to be so different for others? Why is being humbled or sometimes having someone else not take us all too serious, a bad thing? What do we feel we are losing through it?

Not meant nasty, just trying to understand how others work differently, it appears teddybear

wave We are losing nothing, and it is not bad. If you are humble,
you realise that you are a middle child in a family of 7 billion.

Never read the full post, I never read long posts, I am too lazy on here, but I read the thread title and the first line and this emoticon is mostly used on here to be condescending, occasionally to comfort another but I prefer the hug one for that.

It makes me mumbling

I know what makes me smile very happy

Yeah I know my posts can be terribly long and boring, and when that happens a comfort works just fine to remind me of it laugh

The funny thing is... that those who would skip over a really long post because it's too long, would then go on to read many times the same amount of words of other stuff within a few minutes.

Yes but when one is reading numerous small posts, it is a variety of opinions;expressions;sense of humours; etc etc

On many occasions I never even finish reading those posts, depending on the tone of the message, I w

emerald888: I am country pumpkinfied(my word) big crowds I don't do.

I recently collected my children from a party(x's party)had 20kids hugging me. Though it was nice to see children(my nephews and nieces by marriage?)they don't hold grudge, hurt that they are no longer part of life now. Break up's go deeper than just the two people involved, or even our children.

Yes, and it is very sad when individuals can not part in sensible ways. I have always tried to, but sometimes it is not possible, takes 2 to be willing to part in reasonable ways :'/

Oh kids hugs are wooooonderful ^____^

And crowds terrify me all around uh oh Got lost some point in Vienna, and until this day I got no clue why those peeps were all on the street for, but oh my, you don't wanna know.......... I could not get out of that moving shoving stream, they dragged me along forever, and then I was even more lost and can't even recall how I was rescued, was in such a panick crying
