Oh dear things seem to be heating up a bit between ourselves and our good friends Indonesia??

Is this all a bit of face saving posturing with the Indonesian diplomat being recalled - or is this serious stuff we should be worried about?

I don't know if anybody expected the Ambassador to be called back to Jakarta??

What about Schapelle Corby - has her 'early release' been scuppered - if it was ever going to happen???

Just glad I am not in Bali at the moment, I don't think I would be able to enjoy a break there knowing what is happening.

Think Australia and Indonesia has always had a fractured relationship with Indonesia? handshake

There has been a stand-off between Indonesia and Aust for a very long time. They are 99% Muslim and we are (were) 90% Christian. Which is why we take "Muslim Refugees."help

Oddly enough, Aust does give a lot of "Foreign Aid" to Indonesia. We do train a lot of their miltary staff. Hopefully to stop the "Foreigners" invading our shores.

Kevin Rudd's government tapped SBY's personal mobile phone they listened to all his private phone calls for 15 days in 2009.
SBY rightly so was not happy to hear from Snowdons recent disclosure Australia had done that...

Idiot Downer proclaims apologizing is an admission of guilt, while however he has already admitted he blocked me from buying an $85k house at Bonang just over four years ago, oh off track....

never trust a christian

I heard on Sunrise this morning that the Indonesian President really has nothing against Australia but has to save face in front of his ministers and the media over there. It was said what we have to worry about is next year when elections happen, the current President cannot be re-elected and the next President may not look upon us so favourably.

I am one to sit down to watch all these "current affairs" programs. Okay, I miss a lot of the "flavour of the month/day" stuff going on.

Indonesia was 'libererated' from the Dutch after the Japanese invasion.

Australian does spend a lot of money "foreign aiding" Indonesia to this day.

What do we get back for this foreign aid???

All the refugees that are coming from there should be taken back .Simple as that .If the Indonesian Government wants to make an "issue " out of it, fine, Aus has the forces and allies to help . There is no difference from sending unarmed Islamic refugees over time or armed people in a hurry as the result ends up the same .

Bribery.

Indonesia has always been our buffer to stop the "Yellow Peril" hitting our shores. Which is why we give them so much Foreign Aid. And now they are erecting streetsigns directing people on our way.

I hear what you are saying Lilee but for my money the dangerous thing is the passionate, less diplomatic extremist nutters who are burning flags etc. and who knows what they will do? dunno

They don't know the meaning of the word 'diplomacy' or 'international relations' and don't give a stuff anyway?

hypothetically speaking, having regard to Australian Indonesian military exercises ongoing earlier this last week on paper at least, having sufficient boots already on the ground here Indonesia probably took Australia three days ago.

Had General Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono conducted himself as dishonestly as John Howard, Alexander Downer (who owes me at least $200,000), Abbott Shorten and Co he probably could have. E.g the point Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has been making...

Well, if we take the smokescreen politics out of it, Indonesia's real beef with Australia is stopping the lucrative people trade.

Most refugees are financial refugees, not political refugees.

Indonesian politicians get a lot of financial kick-backs and are also behind a lot of the "refugee trade". They are making a motza.

The spying scandal is the smokescreen they are using to keep their profits from this people trade flowing into their pockets.

Australia is stupid enough to go into a foreign countries national waters to "rescue" boats while the country that sends them out doesn't give a toss after they get their money.

Statistically out of over 1.6 million refugees worldwide in 2012 (I think the stats were for) only 220,000 were found to be genuine refugees.

Many of the people getting on these boats have paid a motza for the ride. They have the money, just don't want to wait like my financee had to.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who pay a lot of money to climb on one of these boats.

Genuine refugees would be happy to go to any country where they are safe from persecution.

Non-genuine refugees are sold a ride like any other commercial travel venture and what to get to the destination they bought their ticket for.
