If 20,000 kerry people took their names off the electoral register one of them would be out of a job. No office, no party leaders allowance, no expenses, no pension. Gone! But people stay on the register to vote for 'their party' and 'keep the other crowd out' and this is what we get.

They represent their community and work for their local people, and have things in common with the voters.
I suppose its the same as the dubs voting for that sneaky lying towrag Bertie and all the other dickheads they voted in
It is the same all over, local votes, for local problems for local TDs.
It doesn't matter if the entire economy is in the toilet, that the country had to have a bail out, that people will be paying for the stupidity and arrogance of politicians for decades to come, no, what matters is that pot holes are filled in, speed bumps get put in, people get their medical card and passports.
I don't just blame the politicians, I apportion equal blame to the electorate who fall for the same old same old, time and time again. I swear the Irish love their misery.

I had a drink in their pub a couple of years ago and was short 5 cents, despite turning on the charm and winking at the old fart behind the bar(not a healy rae) i had to turn out my handbag and find the coppers before he handed over the warm glass of guinness. So I got my own back and took the empty glass with guinness motif on it and fled the dump. Now its a talking point.

I didn't see the documentary on taht odious family, they are a lot smarter than the average Healy Rae voter who votes for one of those eejits. Saying that anyone who votes for any member of that family must be highly uneducated, the Healy Raes also like to play up to the old Daily Mail stereotype of the "cute hoor, thick paddy" incapable of running our own affairs.
