ok moving on from the interest on another thread, what classic car or bike do you own or would like to get? cool

at the moment i have these but no doubt i'll be adding to them again in the future cool

1974 Mercedes 280SE (2.8 6cyl)
1975 Jaguar XJ6 L (4.2 6cyl)
1977 Mercedes 450SL (4.5 V8)

also have a 97 mg roadster tho thats got a long way to go to a classic yet

the big classics are nice but at todays fuel prices not excactly a cheap hobby, hence mine are parked up in dry storage till i win the lotto, so what have you got?

Does this count as a classic yet?

Was my first big bike, kickstarting the 500 as a total lightweight had me pray each time uh oh

Would not mind having one again, although will probably not return to biking, not sure.. probably only if I'd end in a relationship with someone who bikes, and then it could even be that I'd enjoy going on the back, would be a sign of true trust (have never ever gone passenger on a bike with anyone).

Dodge Challenger 70-74. No need for Semtex, she'll go like a bomb without it.

Throw in a Yamaha XS1000 for good measure.

Classic cars look great. I just don't have the patience for the upkeep and repairs that comes with a love of classic cars.

If you use some of the dodgy disel made in HC's neck of the woods, she'll go faster than grease lightning

This woulda' made such a cool pic thread! grin Few pics of your own thrown in there! conversing

Sound like some classy veh-hic-els you got there!! thumbs up

Me, at the moment, nadda! doh

If I could get one, like, a wish list, then I'd have:

Triumph GT6

Or a Datsun 260z

Modest enough I reckon, I like the long bonnet, sloped back look! cool

But, in reality, I'm gonna start small, Triumph Spitfire. Try get my hands on a somewhat solid, relatively rust free 'project' and get my hands dirty! ireland

I would love a Mercedes-Benz 280SE, 450 SLC or a 500SL.

Failing that an old tank of a Merc will do me.

Oh yeah neither of which I own but a nice thought laugh

On the whole , I don't believe classics have any more upkeep to them given that newer cars are largely a 'plug er in' to find out what's wrong with them and more expensive parts .

Mostly the more exclusive luxury barges or rare hard to find classics are going to be a hassle .

Not a classic owner yet, but I do understand one thing, that being that if you wanna own a classic prepare to get your hands dirty because the chances are you're gonna be under the bonnet a lot or stood by the road side, bonnet popped; scratching your head laugh Then there's issues with rust; keeping them under sealed and stored properly, ideally not really driving them during winter month unless youre prepared to keep them well waxed and checked.

So, yeah, I don't know why people say 'they don't make cars like they used to' laugh but then, my little Starlet got me over and back to Doolin for about €40 and has almost 182k on the clock, now they don't make 'em like that anymore laugh

Not sure if it is a classic but I am in the process of transforming a VW transporter into a campervan.
I had it for years as a work vehicle and didn't want to sell it for scrap prices so decided to give it a new lease of life.
Great engine, goes forever practically and just a matter of adding the internal bits.
