Hey Gold wave

Blue Cod and Hapuku (Groper) are the best cold water deep fish for eating here in the South Island

So pack a boat rod for a trip across the ditch. cheers

Need to purchase my 45 ft catamaran for that fishing trip!
Some of the best eating fish here are Red Emperor, Spanish Mackerel and Coral Trout. kiss

The last time I ate fish was end of 1967. I am obviously not a fan of of fish. It was Leather Jacket, although there had been a run on some other fish, but Mrs H cooked the Leather Jacket that night and I had no choice. Probably the only fish I would ever try again. It was also around the last time I drank a cola straight. I can only drink cola if it is 50/50 with Ouzo.

I used to be a cray diver in the very top of the great Barrier Reef, we would be at sea for 3 months at a time, I saw allot of things go down underwater.
One afternoon we were heading back to the main boat when a tern landed on my shoulder, I was driving the boat also. The bird stayed gripping on to my shoulder while we were doing about 20 knots over white caps and all. My workmate couldn't believe it and said he'll run and grab a camera once we get back to the boat... The bird took off after travelling on my shoulder for about 10 miles, just as we reached the main boat...pretty funny.wink

I used to be keen on fishing; in my 20's. Used to fish for Tuna, Salmon, Flathead, Sweep, etc around Portland.
But life and responsibilities took over and I lost interest in it. blues
