Thing is, how is that figure derived? Singles household females?

I am single for the first time, really, although not alone for the first time, relationships might not show you as single in statistics, but I am pretty certain a lot of us have gone through that with the wrong matches head banger

They took it from the census I think. It represents all females living alone whether divorced or unmarried.

But they might not be single, really? Seems often nowdays that people run two households, being 'together' but living apart? Modern life dunno

That's true. The information on the census is not always entirely accurate. Single mothers with a live in boyfriend might not put that down but then again they probably wouldn't have 30 years ago either, so the percentage is unaffected.

So many different forms of relationships nowadays anyway, people, especially females, moving out of home into their own places instead of into a husband's home.

I feel we are overall growing more lonely, with or without relationships, and it affects children too, many don't get story times anymore, instead they get a TV in their room, the elderly end in homes instead of their wisdom still being of use (well, not much wisdom left anymore either).

tinyfangs: Looking around, I am not sure I can agree with you. Maybe the circles you are moving in, but here seem to be plenty of males who do not enjoy their single lifes?

It works for you and that is grand but same time I think there are males out there who'd pat you on the head, because they have loving working relationships. All you ever list is the negative, and that's understandable if all your experiences were like that and if you do not have enough ability to imagine anything but what you have experienced, but what you promote is what 'the system' wants, so you support the system, have been imprinted by it. Nature/evolution designed the human race differently, and despite feeling rather hopeless, I still rather go with nature over the brave new world (always having been lonely IN relationships, and still I know it can be different, and for that I am allowing that nature within me to continue wishing).
thumbs up Have to say the loneliest time of my life was when I was married, if we dont learn from bad relationships, then all relationships in the future are going to be crap too , tarnishing everyone , male or female, with the same brush doesnt help either, most people learn from life experiences & move on, jmo ....

I don't agree. I've talked to those same men in their 'loving working relationships' when their wife isn't listening to them and they tell a different story. To some extent they are fooling themselves in to dissociating the non-working side of the relationship and to another extent they are just making the best of it. I'm sure if you could talk to zoo animals they would tell you how well their relationship with the zoo is working but give them a few years out in the forest again and they really tell you what happiness is. Men are meant to be free. Women are meant to be nesters and nurterers. We can do without relationships, women can't. You can't fight 100,000 years of evolution.

I personally believe your conclusions of evolutions are incorrect, as it makes no logical sense - nature would not have developed females in that way, longing for and needing relationships as you state, without someone to have those relationships with. If males would be so capable of going it alone, humanity would have never developed in the ways it did, we'd see a different world/natural system in regrads to humanity.

A female in my view should support her male (not just any male, HER male), and do follow HIS lead (not just any male's lead), but same time what we are now seeing are many males being just as led along by the system same as many females are. 'Natural thinkers/acters' have grown very rare, we are held by strings.

Do you ever consider that the views you have developed are a) meant to have been developed by you (and others) and b) that you due to your mindset evalute things so that they fit in with that view? I mean no disrespect with this, I honestly do not, but from all the things you keep posting, you sound majorly infleunced by your bad experiences, and while I'd like to agree, I can't help but feel I hear the system speaking through you (honest apologies for this, but I can't help it, that's the way it comes over to me, alas I am always more than happy to see myself corrected).

I think everyone has more options these days, it is not a must to be married for any gender anymore.

Everyone needs different things to make them happy, they also change as we get older.

A man would be lost without a woman in his life 24/7.

One of the things I really miss is having a woman chatting away, and telling me all about her friends and what they said, when I am trying to watch the football.innocent

There seems to be twice as many men as women on internet dating sites. Well, at least on this one anyway dunno so the men do seem to be looking for something to do with women but, if those statistics are correct, some single women at least aren't that bothered.
