I have looked at trying to get some upgrades done to my Kodak Box Brownie but seems that when I hit the internet to see what there is, I get a lot of pictures of Kodiak Bears.

Bloody great photos, Rob. thumbs up

Great photos as usual Rob. Looked up that camera and seems like a really professional unit. How do they do "mirrorless" SLR?

What camera did you have before this one?

I got a nikon d5100 about a year ago, but I counted 25 knobs and buttons on it and most have tiny, illegible symbols next to them, so it is taking me a long time to learn how to use it.

I bought a new SLR camera a few years ago. I had previously spent 3 months with my family travelling Europe & GB and was not satisfied with the results. Unfortunately, I am not the one who has those pictures to remember the trip.

I did find that I needed my glasses on to find all the right buttons on the camera and to read the instructions, and then had to take my glasses off to look through the viewfinder and never sure how the pic would turn out until I had it developed.

But with the digital viewfinders now, that problem should be reduced ....... if I could see the viewfinder.

Between being long-sighted, Old Timers Disease and Shaking Hands Disease (has aided in other activities), I have to settle for "Auto" phase.

robplum: comprehensive review link

makes me feel envious with the distance pics , if you forget the sd card can you recover pics . My new one does not take as good close ups as the last one but you can recover pics if card is not in which is handy around here .

no mate the M1 has no memory, its must have a card, which you take out, just connect using USB cable to computer and Picasa does the rest, the camera came with a program disk, from its install went online and ran Firm Ware update from Olympus which updated firmware for both camera and Zuiko 75-300 mm lens or whatever lens is attached there site detects and updates the lens firmware to.

Wash i'm using it in auto, just entered menu to set the AF and it does the rest, you can of course do things manually, but me a bit slow on my feet when it comes to that sort of stuff. I purchased it mainly based on the five point stability built into the M1, however if you read the posted link to review, it has a lot lot more functions, shower / freeze proofing both camera and Zuiko Lens, quite lot of other.

Obs other camera i was using is an Evolt E500 8mg DSLR, however is lot heavier, doesn't auto focus as good, lot less built in stability

sorry
" its must have a card, which you take out, just connect using USB "!
should have read which there is no need to take out, just connect computer using supplied USB
I purchase body only, lens and 16 gig card that suits camera, (tis better than 10 speed) a must have lightening fast card ($39)

Eh? You've got the fire going? confused
Dec 21, 2013 6:30 PM CST OM-D EM1
wanted to clen the firebox out, which i've just done, was full of cardboard, cigarette butts etc, so lit it then remembered the review said the camera would take photos even in the moonlight, my E500 certainly wont, so decided to give it a try, with only one energy saving light bulb lighting the room that was the result

fella that was running the forestry block next door is a keen hunter and has a habit of taking a pic of an area , putting it up on a screen and searching the pic for deer . Easier than using bi nocks . Not sure of his camera magnification but would not be much of a camera to be 5x . This is done on his hunts rather than going back to their hut . Smart idea .

i've only had the camera since yesterday morning, just been reading some of the manual, it has lots of functions and of course depend on the lens

thus far i love it, reading just now i can see couple things i will try, like in press hdr button, hold down the picture taking button (has halfway focus function as well) press hdr, hold button all way day = quick as light series of photos up to ten i think...gunner try tat tomorrow

one thing that i'm very impressed with, the three blue bird and rabbit photos the camera to my eye anyway, has focused on the bird and rabbit, not little branches or mesh in front of the subject, in all but one of those pictures the bird and wabbit seem to me to be in focus.
