Dear Mei....
I guess each one of us has a different reason...
customs, happiness, security, because you feel you should.. etc
But its also OK to not want any of that... some people like their independence..
There are really strong points in both arguments...

Some seek love and marriage because they feel insecure and unable to cope without someone else.
Some seek love and marriage because they want to control another person and marriage lets them do this through emotional manipulation.
Some seek love and marriage because they think that this will make them happy, not realizing that happiness comes from within themselves.
Some seek love and marriage because they want to care and give to another person.
Some seek love and marriage because they want money.
These are some of the reasons why people seek love and marriage.
For me, I am a better human being when I can care for another person. It helps me to be less self-centred and selfish. It gives my fiancee security and value and self-worth. She realizes that someone in the world thinks she is beautiful, when she does not think this. Also I need the companionship. Talking to myself at night does nothing for my sanity..... ha ha.
