Here's a title for you guys NOT into light reading . The Musket Wars . A history of inter-iwi conflict 1806-45
by R.D. Crosby .

This has nothing to do with the war between Maori and the British army 1860's . Come as a surprise to me as the period is not taught in schools truthfully . Although one of my son's brought it home from their high school library .

History is usually written by the victors.

I have read few books about Russian history...they are usually fantastical or so dry they put me to sleep after 2 pages.

Similarly, history of the Phillipines. The Spanish controlled it for centuries until Admiral Dewey "conquered" it in 1901. And then the Good Old Boys were kicked out in the 1940s for a few years. But little of its long history have I found in the English language.
