serene56: Hi Sassie, can't agree more

However, aside from transferring music from CDs, are you into downloading music directly from sites?

In effect, negating the need to purchase a CD in the first place?

This way, one can also choose individual songs rather than a whole album

yes and no

I buy my music but I am also guilty of downloading - I download impossible albums that are no longer available having checked out sanity first and those albums are the ones that I have on tape or vinyl - Individual songs I do download as I you can't buy them separately like you could back in the 80's and 90's...

KauriMan: Hi Newie,

Music connoisseurs still love the original sounds from vinyl.

When my dad changed over to cd's back in the last 80's, he gave me his vinyl collection, what was left of it... I won't part with them, even though I don't have a record player... There is so much info available - like the lyrics to all of Cat Stevens - Catch a bull at four album, the design and shape of the Rolling Stones Album - autobiographies - Dusty Springfield - The cd's are dearer, but they don't have that info... which is a shame...and the sound from the vinyls is raw, pure and unadulterated raw - for some older music, the sound cannot duplicated on cd - and they the record companies do tell you the music has been enhanced and digitalised...
Just like a live concert/pub band cannot be recreated on record...

still very popular, Channel One has been showing Get Smart continuously from season one 1965 to season five 1970. But you gotta love Agent 99...what a peach.
