Never been to any kind of counseling or therapy myself but my son did when he had a earring loss and had to attend speech therapy from K-8th grade. He had to learn how to make the vowel sounds of words.

I assume that was supposed to be 'hearing loss', Ccincy, unless your son was mortified into silence by losing a diamanté stud as a child.

Why do you think you're too old for it to work, True?
How do you think (presumably) bereavement counselling 'works'?

Hi Boom, good to see you.
How did you find using counselling services?
How did you find using counselling skills in your work?
Did you study counselling skills before, or after using the services yourself? How did your knowledge impact upon being a service provider and/or a service user?

Thank you for sharing your personal experiences, Ben.
What made your experiences positive and negative? Was it just from within, your decision to accept you couldn't do it alone? Was it because it was your choice in later life? Was it something to do with the difference in the services that were provided between your first and later experiences?

Ccincy: Yes jac I met hearing.I've got a new keyboard and it's taking time to get used to the keys cause they are stiff.
It was a good one, Ccincy.
How did you and your son find the experience of the speech therapy? Was it a positive, or negative experience? Did it provide just speech therapy, or did you find it useful in any other way? How did it make you feel to be using a therapy service?

using them for myself was unhelpful at first Jac it took me at least 3/4 different times before I found someone who I felt I could open up to and who I felt really listened..the first one I seen was a clock watcher and sat paraphrasing everything I said..I felt no connection with her..when using councilling skills in my place of work I found listening and letting the client open up at their own pace and building a relationship with them helped get a bigger picture of the clients issues etc
