If your child committed a crime that would send them to prison for years and only you knew about it, would you turn them over to the authorities or would you keep their secret in order to keep them out of prison?

Ah, no one tackled this one. If it was a heinous crime, the child,
let's assume an adult, would be turned in. Tax fraud, I would not,
but very large grey area.

Ooh this is a toughie, good question hmmm

If a human being was hurt or killed, I would have to report my child.

However if it were a major robbery or a so-called 'victimless crime', I would be in two minds for sure.

Mis wine

Often crosses my mind when reading of peoples' crimes and their ensuing jail sentence, how that is someone's son, daughter, parent, sibling, lover and so on.

Just awful sad flower

Thank goodness I was never in that position, so I can say I don't know what I would do, it would depend on many things.

Ah doctor... I don't believe that there should be an exemption for anyone..

Laws are in place for a reason, and that same access is for everyone, so if you feel that you are above the law... then of course, you wouldn't turn in your own... but then, by the same token... if someone did something to you and yours.. then I feel, the law need not protect them...

Sorry, but for me... its a two way street... either stand one side or the other... not jump the line when you feel like it..

wave Whoa, this is a grey area if there ever was one. In making the
choice to turn in an adult offspring, we would decide for ourselves
the severity of the crime, and as a Mother, I believe you would too.

Sorry... I think you are wrong...

as a mother.. I instilled the difference between right and wrong..

I am extremely black and white on this subject..

like I said...without hesitation

We like living in a country with rules.
We like the privledges of having rules to protect us
We like to know that we have the law on our side.
etc etc.

so how do you all of a sudden, say.. Oh dear.. but this rule does not apply to me and mine.. ???

Morally wrong don't you think?

But just think of the blackmail opportunities.

You could live a life of total leisure, no more gardening, pond cleaning, decorating etc, etc.
