I've just been on a road trip around the North Island of New Zealand over the last week and wanted to thank a fellow CSer for taking time out one day to show me the real face of New Zealand away from the tourist traps. I have a lovely day with great company and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Thanks epirb hug

New Zealand is such a lovely place for a holiday, LiLee. I have a photo of a large Kiwi like that from a bird sanctuary I went to in Otorohanga .

The good news is it's just a hop, skip and a jump away if you want to head over there again.smile

Photo opportunity outside the Tui Brewery - not so sure about the billboard on the left but the building on the right looks attractive (who is the attractive woman in the middle?)

Hanging out with a kiwi at Eketahuna. No where to eat but. Lot of feeds on that duck

Unusual opening and closing times here in NZ. Don't you hate the Unionised Working Hours?

We even went to a tractor museum This place had to be seen to be believed. Some people do find tractors attractive. Some even find "fossils" attractive.

I have only been to the Main Island rolling on the floor laughing and enjoyed going there. A small place with so many things to see and do. Good that you have gone and had a taster of the "7th State."

This museum was amazing Wash. There must have been a specimen of every farming and domestic object invented by man between the late 19th century and about 1950. It was such an interesting place. thumbs up

it would have been LiLee thumbs up

I know I have been in Evandale Tasmania when the steam tractors parade the streets, great monolith steaming beasts, slow but oh so powerful. Then when they get them off the streets the penny farthings take over the town racing around a circuit. Man those things go fast once wound up! But... very hard to stop.

I always find history fascinating, showing the inventiveness of past generations and just how much easier we have it today.
