epirb: you are not on your own , woman I met twenty years ago was left with three early teens and a large mortgage on a lifestyle block . She started shearing, couple of years or so was at 300 a day . Fencing on her own block . Chainsaws and all the other gear on a farm . She with her brother now lease two farms over 3000 acres ,plus own their own blocks as well . Singled minded pursuit of what she wanted and to hell with the nay sayers . She was pretty tidy as well .

I think we'd all agree that many women on here have rolled up their sleeves and got on with it, done things that have mostly been left to men or perceived as being something only males do.

For the most part because we've had to, but more importantly, because we can thumbs up

serene56: On reading forum posts (mostly Inters), it's occurred to me that many men view women as some kind of unfathomable race of their own

As a collective I mean, but I wonder do most women look at men in the same way

Or do we regard them more as individuals

Getting back to the original question:

When dealing with another person, male or female, I see an individual.

But as a collective, I think men and women have slightly different motivations based on our genders.

I'm no psychologist, wink just threw that in for AA's benefit,

but....generally

I think men need to feel like they are winning the game of life, to feel free to be a man, make their own decisions and provide for those they love and be appreciated.

Women need to feel loved, they feel this by connecting with others, supporting and nurturing those close to them.

Perhaps the confusion occurs when men expect women to react like men and women expect men to react like women.

We all possibly want the same thing but just come at it from different angles.

Now if I could just apply this in practice. laugh

Sounds pretty accurate to me Lilee.
Reminds me of when I met my first wife to be. I think the first gift I bought her was a blender, thinking something useful would be just great. Of course she hated it. And then she would always buy me useless things like a belt or a scarf or aftershave.
You'd think we would learn, wouldn't you. Well we did sort of, after many years.
