The Global Debt Clock

I just checked the "World Debt Map" and "World debt comparison"... and it looks like everyone is in debt !!

How is it that an entire planet is in debt? It's not like everyone had money and spend it.. but as money is made out of nothing. and "debt" is money for some.... a few questions.

1. why are we in debt?

2. if everyone is in some sort of debt, then where is all the money?!!

3. who is everyone in debt too? who's holding the other side of this?

"The clock is ticking. Every second, it seems, someone in the world takes on more debt."

Debt per person:

US - $45,966.44
France - $37,535.14
Uk - $38,614.55
Spain - $22,642.68
Germany - $34,215.31

that is true. the link is accurate, and its from the Economist. but where Canada is spending it... not sure

"This interactive graphic displays gross government debt for the globe. The clock covers 99% of the world based upon GDP. It uses latest available data and assumes that the fiscal year ends in December.
Debt figures are derived from national definitions and therefore may vary from country to country.
The clock shows the estimated debt at the point corresponding to the current date and time in whatever year you are viewing; this is why it increases even when you view past or future years."

I'm wondering if our high taxes are a major contribution to the overall personal debt here. confused

no, taxes pays for "government" to run. thats all. this has to do with what our governments are spending above our taxes.

it will affects us. if you look in the economies in "debt" - Ireland, Portugal, Spain or Greece (or Argentine now), we (everyone) wiull have to pay for "new" money, as governments will have to borrow money. so at the end, you and i have to pay for that. by new taxes.
