Maybe the people committing this crime should be left in a car for double the amount of time their children/pets were.

It's a horrible thing to do to anyone or a an animal. Some people are not just idiots but are also selfish and ruthless. very mad very mad

A child lost consciousness while the mother was trying to get the child to unlock the door . Not every body carry's a centre punch in their pocket but something similar pushed and twisted against the glass has it disintegrating . Instant access for any body faced with the problem .

That poor child. He/she must have been in the car for quite some time. I just don't understand how some people don't realize that can cause death! A slow, agonizing possible death.very mad

I can remember a next door neighbour taking her kids out to the car to go somewhere and she turned around to do something.
The 2 year old closed the door, keys in ignition and the kid hit the central locking button.
Hot day and mother was beside herself because we couldnt get her to touch the button again or even unlock a door for us.
Luckily the RACV was called and was there in 7 minutes and we shaded the car with whatever we could in the meantime.

The people who do it knowingly, you just cannot fathom their thinking.

I know in the past, only when very necessary have I left a pet in a car. But in saying that, the car was shaded, there was water available to the dog and the windows were slightly open for ventilation. There was also a damp towel for her to sit on. If we couldnt duplicate those conditions and we had no choice she was always tied up in the shade of the car, again with water. But hated doing that as there was always the chance that someone would steal her.

I have had to leave my dog in the car once on a warmish day (high 20s) but had the aircon on full for the last hour of the drive. Made sure all windows wound down enough so that he couldn't get out and left him plenty of water. I was away 1 hour and as the Land Rover didn't have sloping windows for the sun to get in, it was still reasonable inside. It would have been worse if I had tied him outside on the hot bitumen.

If I did see a child or animal suffering in a car, I would grab a tyre iron and smash a window.

Next time you find a wreck try twisting a centre punch on a window .Low impact and controlled glass breakage used for rescue . Most safety glass has a plastic sheet between layers of glass which stops it breaking into large shards . I was trained to do the job as part of Rural Fire and was surprised how simple and safe it was . WACKING THE BLOODY WINDOW WITH A WHEEL BRACE IS NOT ON AS IT WILL COVER THE INSIDE WITH GLASS AND SEND LITTLE SPLINTERS AROUND THE INTERIOR INTO EYES .The tip of a good knife should do the job as well . Just push and twist ,don't stab .

I think every driver young and old should attend some type of workshop to make them aware of dangers.

Hi all wave

Common sense, one would think, take keys out of ignition as soon as you stop and take them with you.then if a child locks the doors you can get straight back into the car.
Never leave a child or pet in the car full stop.

For the people that do things like that are heartless, brainless fools.
The temperature doubles in a car.
No excuses for it.

Yes, it's a terrible thing to think people would leave a child or pet in a hot car deliberately. very mad

We have a pet shop near a supermarket in my town that offers pet minding while you shop. They clearly advertise it on a chalk board out the front as an alternative to leaving your dog in the car while you drop into the supermarket. dancing dog

They wont take little kids tho laugh You have to take them with you. blues

Most of my modern vehicles have required me to remove my key from the ignition to open the petrol cap (they did not have a remote petrol cap opener). It may be an inconvience for some not to have soothing music or the DVD running but.....

Whenever I travel, I always have a spare set of keys on me.
