You got me to thinking about my town, Lismore and where else there is a town of the same name.
I know there is a Lismore in Victoria, but found out there is an island in Scotland called Lismore. It's 2,351 hectares and gets 166 centremeters of rain every year.
What about other towns where we live, I bet most town names come from The UK or are indigenous names. Would be interesting to find out where there is another town named the same.

Okay, I live in Endeavour Hills. Endeavour = try (in English). First ship to claim Aust (Lt CooK)...was school motto of Infant/Primary school I went to, was the name of my High School.
I do know of a Pommie bloke, he's in his 80's now and when he arrived in Sydney he was greeted with "Welcome to Sydney, Sydney"

Same suburb names can be a bit disorientating when you move from one major city to another, like Sydney to Melbourne
Waverley, Croydon & Burwood Sydney are inner suburbs while in Melb they are outer suburbs.
Richmond and Windsor are almost country in Sydney while in Melb they are inner city.
Both cities have some odd names as well.
NSW has Parramatta, Wooloomooloo, Woolooware & Wollongong but Vic has some beauties ..... Cora Lynn, Koo Wee Rup, Nah Nah Goon & Robin Hood

And Rooty Hill NSW was named by Governor King because it reminded him of Rooty Hill in Norfolk Island. And later lived up to its name when locals used to go up there to "see the Sydney lights."
