Is it good manners to acknowledge people who view your profile?
I do so, but the reciprocal is lacking.
Is it because you get sick of sorting the chaff from the wheat? barf

I reply to ones that send a message, not ones who just view my profile...and I don't expect a message from people whose profiles I've viewed.

If they've viewed me and not messaged there's obviously a reason for it.

Ergo, when they view.my profile and I send a message would an acknowledgement be a polite thing to do. Even if it said GFY. scold
What do you think the percentage of genuine people would be on CS? confused

I make initial replies even to say no thanks, if they carry on and on I stop replying.

I guess if they don't reply they're not interested, so at least you don't get your hopes up every time you see a red mailbox :)

i don't think it's a manners thing...........you are either curious or not, but i would not be one to put down manners at all, because, it's severely lacking at times in today's world....professor

Manners are dying. Was something my parents and grandparents insisted I learnt while growing up and has stuck with me.

As for messaging everyone who looks at your profile. dunno

I don't think that's necessary. If you want to make contact with someone MrW, then take the next step and send them a message. conversing

Viewing a photo does not necessarily mean they are interested, it means the thumbnail photo is not clear and natural curiosity encourages them to click on it. Sometimes not even that, an accidental click can occur.

I believe NotABlonde is using her manners. She responds to anyone who contacts her, and that is mannerly. While her response is not necessarily what they want to hear, she has recognised their attempt.

Having said that MrWilling, it's nice that you have manners. My Grandmother used to tell me that having manners will take you a long way in life. smile

Mine too Abagail, and they were wise women.

Mine had a saying.....'You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar' thumbs up

And I passed it on to my kids as well.

LiLee, I had a brother who took everything literally... He tried the vinegar and the honey and found they were both ineffective. He said he caught more flies with determination. giggle

Agreed, :), does not take much to show a little manners ....but i even relate this to something as simple as for instance when a lady asks you a question you answer in reply, you send back a question to no reply, i find this quite common, and for whatever reason...rude as well

AgentAjax: arrogance,a**hole, and every other name you can think off go together until you become one. When I was a youngster and had nothing everyone appeared to be rude and arrogant and then as I climbed the ladder I noticed it less and less.

Well it's always hard to see the forest for the trees when your standing amongst them. sigh

Your no shipwreck, agentajax
I grew up in housing commission area plenty of poverty there, but we looked after each other. How everyone appears has a lot to do with your own Outlook.
What you are failing to notice while climbing the ladder is where you came from and others now talk behind your back. Catch fire see who wants to put you out?

Welcome... Mrwilling.. but I don't think acknowledging everyone who views your profile is reasonable..

nothing to do with manners

for a start... you must realise that many people just don't bother/ remember to look at the WVM

some come on here just for the games... and some come on for the forums...
