Mum had one of those 6-cylinder Rambler Ambassador Classics. When it had a few problems, she got it bored out as the larger stuff was more readily available ... and she was a rev-head ... she was into car racing and won a few titles in the 70s.

They went like cut cats, even the original 232/6 did 90mph in 2nd out of 3. Many ford parts were interchangable as AMI bits cost an arm and a leg. Fuel cap mid 70's was 65 bucks genuine

The Javeline was a nice looking car, helped a friend/neighbour restore two when I was younger, but never owned one myself.

Ahhh, to think of some of the vehicles I owned in the past, but didn't keep, yet few were my favorites, except the Land Rovers, and I still have some of them. laugh

Some day.....daydream

Mum did a fan belt around 1970. Was going to cost about $20 for the genuine part...that was a fair bit those days - builders labourers were getting $50 per week. Fan belt for an FC Holden was $1.20 - same shape and only 1/2" shorter. Adjusted the generator setting to make up for that.
