A few years ago, I did a Power Point Presentation course. Having attended a lot of courses where I had sat and read through the "slide" 10 minutes before the presenter finished the slide, and had to stop myself from dropping off while they read out the whole slide, it did give me some insight.

What I learnt was "keep the audiences attention." Our finale was a presentation to those that had done the course before and a few of the upper management that were interested in what we had learnt and what our jobs entailed.

I was working in "road safety" at the time. Every i-ratepayer complains about speeding traffic and "you have to install speed humps to slow them down." My opening slide was titled "1 Hump or 2" with a picture of a camel. And then I went on to talk about the requests and the reasons for installing (or not) speed humps in a street. Final slide was me leaning on a shovel talking to a guy after digging a clear track for a bogged vehicle and titled "Just ask and we'll try to help you."

It wasn't the best presentation of the day but a lot of people came up later and said how interesting it was with the pictures holding their attention instead of a lot of boring writing.

Sassie, good on you for doing something that interests you and will make you feel a better person.

Was watching the midday news on ABC today and they did a "Fact Check." The way the presentation was done held my interest to what the speaker was saying. Bit like what I was saying above. Might with worth looking up ABC Online.
