Wayne, poor you. Nothing wrong with the "Mascot" address, more your name "redfern1." It will put every lovely lady in Sydney off to start with.

And if you can, never, ever put your real name up here or on any other site. Too many peeps will use it to their advantage.

Nothing wrong with being honest about yourself. Most of what you wrote is what should be in your profile, except your real name. Now if is really "John Holmes" maybe you would get a lot of enquiries. But probably not on CS Au.

Not sure where you're going with this Wash, but just a heads up that Redfern is fast becoming the new Paddo with funky bars, eateries etc.

My daughter and her husband live in an apartment complex in the 'Fern, a 23 yr old unreno'd 2br apartment just sold for 750k.

Bloody 'ell! It's Vancouver all over again! shock

Some places along our coast went up ten fold in a couple decades, once they started to climb in price. I won't get in to the reasons, that's another story altogether. roll eyes

Anything within sniffing distance of the CBD is sure to fetch top dollar here H thumbs up

Thats where the employment is and skilled workers command the incomes that will accommodate the mortgages that come with these properties.

Funny thing, it's Alberta and Asskatchewan where the majority of the work is, yet their prices only doubled, or maybe tripled in the same time frame.

It seems to be what the market will bear in some areas, even to the extreme, but in others, it doesn't reflect it in the same manner. I don't see how many young people/couples will ever achieve home ownership, or outright, within their own lifetime in some places.

My area in BFnowhere has gone down in price overall, but there really isn't as much work here as there was when I bought it either. I'm hoping it turns into more of a retirement community in time, so I have even more peace and quiet than I do now. laugh

I think one of the places this has failed in Australia is Port Adelaide. They tried a few years back to redevelop part of the inner harbour .
Before I moved away staff at my credit union were telling me clients had lost big time buying for huge amounts and losing a couple hundred grand in a few months!!
From my facebook page I'm seeing they are trying again !!
Redfern might be ok but Port Adelaide meh no way IMHO
I get in trouble with 1 person at work she loves the place . Another co worker was born there her comment if your born there there's two types of people that grow up there. Frist ones love it and never leave second ones get out ASAP and never go back !!

Of course marring into a port Adelaide family and moving there to live for 21 yrs I'm biased . Hate the joint once I moved away I realised how much I was missing out on in life !!!

Could be worse could be Elizabeth

Personally, I was just trying to help the guy's chances.

There are parts of Refern that have always been half decent, up behind the old Mail Exchange although I think they like to call that bit Surrey Hills South. And they have some great Lebonese restuarants there. If you are ever in Sydney, head south along Elizabeth Street to Surrey Hills and just passed the Chinese Consulate is the area for the restaurants. A few good ones around the corner in Cleveland Street as well.

Redfern is associated with the riots and on the western side of the tracks, it is a no-go zone if you aren't a brother or sister.
