I am first born and most of the characteristics are true to me.
My ideal match is last born......

It differs from family to family. I am the youngest of five, brother is 7 years older than me, sisters 12 and 13 years older - there was definitely no spoiling or attention allocated because I was the youngest. There was none left by the time I came along

Exactly - too many permutations to simplify it down to a simple question and answer - what type of parents you had, what conditioning you were subjected to, what tragedies/traumas you experienced, how you interacted with your siblings...

they reckon everyone has a twin i wonder where mine is 
fifitheminx: perhaps forget the birth order but the main bit is knowing what kind of person we want and being able to see this in a potential date quick enough.
Bang on the money - and it comes from knowing yourself pretty well, too, in order to know what kind of person we want, what will suit, what won't suit.
So far I have only come across those that won't suit at all at all, lol.
