Do they have to be grateful? Of course, there is nothing worse than being taken for granted but I think that has to do with someone's personality and not whether they are old or young. It's nice to meet someone with manners though. Makes all the difference.

I think the gratitude thing is as a result of another thread on aul wans being grateful for any kind of attention at all....at least that is what I have gleaned from various sources since this was posted
