Hate to say it but it looks like she has just caught a prowler doing something he should not be doing. Looks Like Aunt Lizzie has her sword to his throat.

I was reading "The Bedford Incident" recently about some action between the USA and USSR that happened between Greenland & Iceland during the Cold War around 1960. A lot of the sailors were what is termed "Reservists."

They get out of the armed services (conscripts & volunteers) but are still likely to be called on "in times of need." Apparently what happened in Iraq, Iran & Afghanistan.

NZ would not have been able to staff the Timor operation had it not been for our territorial army (reservists)

Re: Lawful discharge
Sgt R F Plumtree

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your correspondence dated 28th April 2004.

I feel unable to accept NZ Army has processed a lawful discharge, for the following reason.
I continue to allege NZ Army personnel forged/rewrote my army service records from January 1966 on, doing so without my knowledge in or about October 1967, I allege army HQ NZ V Force staff unbeknown to me, forged my signatures and extended my army service contract for more than one year.
Until I received part of my army service records in or about 1991, I had no knowledge what had actually occurred, and since receiving some of the documents (certainly to this date not all) I have continually pursued these matters. You might be aware army had wrongly kept from me my vaccination certificates and pay books, and their remains documents missing.
That witnesses allege an army senior legal Officer did produce a clear forgery of my signature at a meeting arranged at hearing before the Tribunal, and held in the Rotorua RSA, and that I continue to allege the same senior legal Officer has made false and or misleading statements under oath before the Human Rights Review Tribunal.

Please be advised in those matters, I recently filed a further complaint with the Office of Ombudsman.

I therefore respectfully say I have not received the proper process of a lawful discharge at all.

Yours truly,

Sgt Robert Plumtree

Logging truck driver wont get knighted...
Late this afternoon there was a massive boom like a bomb had gone off, big cloud of dust rose up into the sky out the front of here. A loaded logging truck dipped over and rested on tis side right across the other side the road on a fairly sharp corner, most of its logs spewed down the river back.
The driver suffered serious laceration to his upper arm, which will require major surgery. Otherwise he was ok, no body else hurt, while this big bikie guy that had pulled up twice fainted and fell over.
A major stuff up

Down South Gippsland way, the local council (with VicRoads) is working with trucking companies operating in the area to improve their safety. When I was with Baw Baw Shire, we were about to expand scheme into our area. And then proceed to expand to others in the VicRoads Eastern Region (includes your area).

The scheme was for experienced drivers to consult with local councils about possible problem areas and to teach new (not neccessarily 'inexperienced') drivers some of the "problem" spots on the routes. Good idea as we had had 3 rollovers in 6 months of fully laden 50-tonne sand trucks (quad dogs) on one stretch of road before they hit the freeway.

If the states and Commonwealth didn't see the forest as cardboard moneytrees the trillions of creatures living in it wouldn't suffer so much.
Its one thing to utilize forest resources quite another to use the forests selfishly to balance grand plans and stupidity ledgers.
I've driven logging trucks in a couple of countries and believe working in forest industry is probably one of the most dangerous occupations going. Thirty or forty tons of logs spilling make big bang.
They took the truck cab away during the night, picture took this, this morning...

But we do need people around who have some experience in needy times. It is not cheap to get someone experienced enough to fly a plane or helicopter and then they usually just leave for commercial gain. Let alone drive a boat or tank.

I have a mate who is Acting President of his local Bush Fire Brigade. Fires, like war, are not around all of the time, unlike in Colonial Days of yore when wars seemed to be happening all the time.

I have met Peter Cosgrove (our next GG) from what I have heard about him, he does deserve a whatever he gets. One of his stories is that when he was in East Timor and he was out having a little tour around the place, he saw some troops unloading boxes from the back of an army truck and giving them to the local Timorise.

Being very suspicious of blackmarket operations (officers get trained to look for that stuff), he waited until the guys got back to based to query them about their activities. Blackmarket operators are said to be be a bit wary of officer questions and oddly enough a few of the questioners did not make it back after the next operation.

Turns out that these guys had been delvering goods that had the "Use By" date passed and the Army was tossing it out. So they were giving it to the locals instead of just dumpng it at the tip for them to find a few days/weeks later.

He then gave a standing order that was basically "Due to the adverse weather conditions in this tropical area, food stuffs are to be disposed of 3 days prior to the expiry date."

Having worked where I was involved attempting to get a tiny bit of the State funding to improve the roads the logging trucks use, I did get to see the tonnage being taken out of the Gippsland area. Can't say how much the total as the tonnage was only listed against each project that trying to get funding. But I do know it was a lot each year just in Gippsland. But small compared to other regions.

Looking at your photo, it looks like it was a sealed road. I am very suss about the tyres on that trailer. And if the road was a bit damp.....or maybe someone coming the other way "unexpectantly"....the roads out that way do no carry much traffic during the week.

I travelled from Bright to Mt Hotham, then down to Dargo and then out to the highway and only saw about 10 cars the whole time.
