Fighting soldiers, from the sky Fearless men, who jump and die! Men who mean, just what they say, Those brave few, of The Green Beret
Silver wings upon their chest These are MEN, America's best! One hundred men will test today But only three win the Green Beret
Trained to live off Nature's land Trained in combat, hand in hand Men who fight, by night and day Courage peak from the Green Beret
Back at home a young wife waits Her Green Beret has met his fate He has died for those oppressed Leaving her his last request:
Put silver wings on my son's chest Make him one of America's best He'll be a man they'll test one day Have him win the Green Beretwhile languishing in the hospital for weeks, I was visited by a Green Beret. He was SO cool...
I agree, love that song - it was sung by an actual Green Beret as well. Really cool a Green Beret came to visit you
I heard this song all the time as a kid - my parents always had music playing in the house- guess I didn't listen that close to the last verse - b/c it really caught me off guard just now..
elednuw: Mine is "Build me up,buttercup".I dn't know who sang it,but just hate it.Whats yours?.
I knew some more songs would eventually come to me - this one is prob. popular, but I hate it - "Afternoon Delight". It came out in the 70s and at 1st I didn't realize what the song meant - however, learning the meaning added nothing to it for me.
The whole sound - Blah - like elevator music - the band can sing...but dull, dull, dull - the only thing going for it - was the msg. about not having to be on a cold, dark night(tho that's also a great time,too-imo), but drab, drab sound - most exciting words match up w/the best part vocally "...skyrockets in flight" and that's it! - a few seconds worth- if what the song is about lasted only as long - hardly worth the effort. My opinion..
kelsann: Typically this would be a song I really enjoy, but my I found out my second husband had been talking to another woman.. and that he had said to her that this song reminded him of her. Needless to say, I didn't stick around much longer after that.
This song still makes me cringe.
not quite based on the song though...More than its meaning to you in retrospect...
It just shows that not everybody has the same taste in music. I really liked Rod stewart. About 6:30 One morning on our way to the racetrack in Atlanta we stopped into a little redneck diner for some quick breakfast but the place was already crowded and we did want to be late so we decided to skip breakfast and left but before we did I decided to drop a coin in the jukebox and treated them all to Maggie May.
I also liked The Macarana and I love Gangnam Style especially that over the top video. Big fan of the Hollies including Bus Stop. What's not to like? I have to agree with achey breaky heart though, that song was flat out tiresome. Richard Harris was not a singer and he proved it beyond any doubt with Macarthur Park. The song a absolutely can't stand is Billy Don't be a Hero by Bo Donaldson.
