LadyBlackAdder: Does anyone have experience of foraging for wild food and cooking it, even simple stuff like putting nettles into soups and picking wild dandelion leaves for salads. It's coming into the season where all these things are plentiful again and I wonder what use, if any, people have made of them.

Nope!! knowing my luck i'd pick something poisonous.

IWT Cork Branch - Tree and Wildlower Walk
Ballincollig Regional Park on Sat. 10th May
Meet at the Ballincollig Regional Park Carpark by the coffee stall at 2pm
This walk is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the trees and flowering plants of Ballincollig Regional Park, from our walk leader Jo Goodyear Botanist, Herbalist and Food forager she is kindly sharing her plant wisdom and will guide us through the woods helping us to get to know the trees and flowers names and how they came to be here. She will also show us where to look and forage for wild foods.
The walk will begin at the car park and include the river bank, mature woodland and willow woodland. Parts of Ballincollig Regional Park are designated as a Natural Heritage Area, particularly for the woodland, and we will explore some of these. The amount of walking we do on the day will be tailored to the group's interests.
Clothing: No special requirements - dress for the weather and wear stout shoes/boots as we will go off the tarmacked paths. Age group: open to all (part of walk on tarmaced paths suitable for buggies)
Contact corkbranch@gmail.com or Jo Goodyear 085-7276738 for further details and to reserve a place.
