Question is: Remember back to when you first signed up on CS and what were your thoughts, hopes, wishes, dreams, and how you picked your user name. Do those same things above still hold a spot in your mind and heart or has it become more of a social gathering of the hearts and minds with other members. Long question sorry

Behhhh its not long that I'm here...just couple of months ago. Was browsing my facebook and voilà cs puped up, like so many other dating sites in between game request and other things.
my user name is similar as Facebook. I signed in with no expectation at all, cause is not the dating site that makes the difference . It what follows out there, in life. Nothing less.nothing more. My profile is genuine 100% and what you see and read its me.------ This thread is Archived ------
It's great to see that there is a lot of genuine people on the threads here. I have read so many write about the scammers and those less than honest and it saddens me that some people choose to play with peoples minds and hearts on something so important and near and dear to having a joyous future life of love and unity with partner.

Well, that was way back in 2006 when I first joined CS. . .
My thoughts, hopes, wishes and dreams were very different back then compared to now.
My chosen username sums up the fact that I'm both a redhead and a Taurus.
Since 2006 I've made several friends/acquaintances, and I'm good with that.

I asked for some advice and got some fab responses from some lovely people, and had plenty of warm welcomes......

I remember how I stumbled on this site, I was doing a Google search for weekend dances because I love to dance, but not in bars or clubs. Back in Ontario, my home province, I use to go every other week to two different ethnic halls, Dutch and Italian Community Clubs, which held dances for forty and over singles. I have to admit it was a great way to meet different people and have a great time of dancing and music and never once dealt with anything getting out of line or bad behavior from anyone. I really miss the dancing and haven't found anything similar where I am currently.

I was the same.
I was like: let me at 'em....and then realised it was all too good to be true.
In fact I wrote a blog about it(my one and only blog)
I then got totally obsessed about quizzes/tests and did the lot.
Got bored....came on to the forums....been here ever since(apart from a few "time-outs")

A friend had suggested I try a dating site. Thought it was time for me to start going out. I googled and signed up on the first free one I found. Thank goodness it was this one. I am not sure what I really expected but it was anything other than what I seen. It was a learning experience for me. And continues to be. I also signed up and forgot about it. Did not put up a clear pic and one day I got an email saying I had mail on this site. It was from a real young man in Kenya 
To this day I am able to contact him. Not here he long ago removed his profile. We have remained friends. It took a long time for me to come to the forum area. Did not even read them at first. Sadly my hopes and dreams have changed as I have acquired more knowledge about myself and also about life. I have felt disillusioned at times. I have walked thru the dark and into the light. Lamenting my lack of success to my sister while visiting her in NY last year, she bullied me into joining a dating site. I googled and CS came up.
Here since August last year I have met some wonderful people, shared a few laughs and learnt quite a lot. But, unfortunately, I have also learnt that few if any men are willing to go to the trouble of getting involved with someone who is far away. And even though I am quite willing and able to relocate, none so far believe it worth the effort. So now I banter on the forums, enjoy exchanging views and a laugh once in a while, but my hopes and dreams are locked away where disappointment and disillusionment cannot find them.

Yes Lady, was giving a lot of thought to your reply and I believe I have mentioned it on here once before, I too would relocate for Love. Considering what I do for a living it would be very easy to just pick up and leave and not having anything to hold me here makes it even easier. I have a lot of fun on here reading and participating on the threads/forums and really seeing what some of the people on here are like through their responses. Also I'm getting a feel for the kind of things they believe in, passionate about especially through certain topics raised, and even a touch of their personalities. Finding Love is still there, still dreaming, and waiting for the day when our eyes meet in pure romance and seduction of mind and body.

First day on the site, I was hoping that I would actually find someone in here, get to know her better keep talking here constantly, hopefully develop something more than just a friendship, into something much more serious, hopefully to eventually meet, really to have a truly meaningful relationship, which might lead to something more permanent, but I can see now, that this is only meant to be a talking session only, with any possible relationship going nowhere. Very disappointing, hopes of a possible relationship non existent. Since real dating wasn't getting anywhere, thought I'd try this kind of dating, but this is even harder, you can't see the person face to face, can only go on a photo, and e-mail messages, and even those aren't regular conversations.
This is only a chat site in my opinion where people talk online about different topics, opinions and whatever else comes to mind.
Yes a very big disappointment, I can spend hours in here, hoping something might develop, but come out in late hours feeling a total waste of time was accomplished instead.
