I think it was banning smoking that killed the pubs here. Who wants to stand outside for a cig when it's -45 C.

Now they have double the chance of meeting as their eyes can now also meet across a crowded smoking area

sallySmokers wouldn't care about the cold,they would risk hyperthermia for smoke,believe me I've lived the life of a smoker.

I still go out for a smoke, regardless of the weather. I don't tend to feel it as much with a few pints of "antifreeze" in me.

Find a pub with a smoking area and heaters in it. We got them here and some of them are very well set up.
Sometimes the smoking area is more sociable then the pub itself! :)

Yes I do. A night out here is shockingly expensive. I really feel it when I come back from SA, where the price of, say, a pint, is about a quarter of the price here. It's crazy

True, I was charged 6.50 for a pint in Dublin, that is just madness, and it wasn't even a nice pint.
