The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. The band consisted of vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce.

Do they sound like English names to you.laugh

I think Morrissey's family are from Dublin. Rest of the band probably strong connections also.

My top three I think are:

Run by Snow Patrol
Bright Blue Rose by Jimmy McCarthy
Big Bad Handsome Man by Imelda May (or any of her songs really)

There are others too like Teenage Kicks from the Undertones (does Northern Ireland count? Oh and Van the Man's Moondance)

Yeah Morrisey is from Dublin, Robbie Keane's cousin, and the greatest guitarist ever, Jonny Marr, is a Maher from Kildare.
With names like O Rourke and Joyce there is a good chance they are Irish too.

thumbs up
May 18, 2014 1:40 PM CST Top Three Irish Songs,
What's harchibald about? Don't get that.
Yeah the Joyce guy's family I bet from Galway or somewhere in the west. Popular name there.

Oh I forgot about Paul Brady's The Island and The Four Of Us' Mary song. Two great songs.

It had better do! Most of the best music comes from there.

Plus, I would have to change Teenage Kicks too!
