Has anyone experienced the Avalance of post [Despite my visible No Junk Mail poster] on the door... They are calling and promising me the world. Labour in particular, do they really think they will get voted in after al l their UTURNS on their promises ? Labours way or..... Fine Gael are quietly confident !!! Fine Fail continue to rant on about the Mess that they themselves started with Cronyism and backhanders and Bankers being let off and walk into the Sunset. I believe Independents and Sinn Fein stand to do well as people are so fed up and Apathethic. I do hope they come out and vote though. Any thoughts on who will get in ?
The candidate running for Sinn Fein in my district has always spoke out about unfair landlords overcharging high rents he has highlighted this on many public occasions and also about the poor conditions in which people live and has stressed it's just not acceptable any more, there are lots of issues he addresses and meets people on a regular basis to get their opinions,he is truly a very genuine man and I won't go into detail here how he has helped people,he meets people on the ground petitioned and spoke out about health cuts and the downgrading of our hospital,it was because of people power on the street our hospital has remained opened,he is passionate about how the upgrading and more services needed for mental health.yes your pro allay all thinking they all promise those things but he has made a strong impact ,anyway everyone has their own who they do or do not wish to vote for and I think we are intelligent enough to speak for ourselves,we are not sheep we hold the power at the end of the day.

Pheonix Most people who are voting SFein are in their 20s , 30s, and early 40s . They dont remember the bombings in Ireland, they never went on a march in their lives. I used work in the Dublin housing action Committee and I remember the maze prisoners well, SF have been just as dishonest whilst they came to govt. regarding special Dinners and trips to New York staying in best hotels, a big party for Mary Lou etc., so much for 'Comrades' Maire De Burca where are you ? They simply dont remember the awful atrocities that happened in the north.

PeachMelba I agree, and stop this Cronyism with pals. The posters outside my house, unbelievable !! Labour really expecting us to believe in their promises !! Eamonn Gilmore was on News at 6 onRTE1 and its unbelievable the arrogance about the broken promises, same with Greens when they got in , they bought themselves lovely new houses and put carbon tax on the poor and they could afford Solar powered houses. At this stage I am dissalusioined at them all but the only thing is, not voting is wrong. I am going to give some of the up and coming Independents a chance, they are mostly young, fresh blood. We DO have competent brains in the country, they just tend not to go into politics. Politicians are a particular breed of animal.

PeachMelba I am so sick of it,Its so hard to live, A friend of mine wants me to move to Wexford, and I am seriously thinking of it.... why? coz the crime rate here is rampant. I agree with you , people will get really really p --d off but the only thing is, they are emigrating . thats sad too. I think we are a wonderful country, we have great brains, great local business, esp in the country farmers markets, local businesses and crafts... they havent a chance with all the taxing etc.,

Pheonix I remember that quote, he could gain victory via the same route as Roger Garland did back in the 80s when people were so fed up with the Government, they kneejerked and voted in the Greens... the rest is history. SF are very overconfident. Mary Lou.... well yes, she was in the progressive Democrats before Sinn Fein and her accent became increasingly Dublin - esque, beforehand she had been distinctly middle class, so hard to take her seriously, also some pretty frightening and undignified comments re McConville /Adams being asked to attend for questioning at PSNI headquarters.

yes but we have our problems here too goldengloss, maybe if you get the opportunity it be good for you to stay in Wexford for awhile to see if it suits you but that's easier said that done,if one owns their own home they can let it out,if that's not the case maybe you could stay with a good friend foe awhile,ah I do hope it all works out for you,you sound like you would be an asset in any job or even part of the community with your bubbly personality and experience from your work.we do have lovely beaches down here and yes it is a more relaxed way of living,a lot of dub liners say that that come to live here and it makes me appreciate the things I have and not the things I don't.i love living near the sea.you will choose what's right for you.

I heard all that in the late 80's, just before I emigrated, I also heard the FF rhetoric "we have changed," after Haughey and his crowd were caught out taking their brown envelopes, and I also heard all the "our children's future," bollix from every single last politician at the time. I would have one piece of advice for anyone who does emigrate, DON'T MOVE BACK....EVER!!!! I did, and I there are times I wonder if I was temperately insane for doing so.

yes my son had to come home after two years in ozz,he was so full of life and had great plans when he came home he worked very hard in ozz as most do,and of course it's a different way of life over there.anyway back to what??sorry to sound bleak he is a positive sort and doesn't like to complain, people say we are good at complaining but we don't do much about it,so what do we do,???taking to the streets and acts of violence like in Greece is not the answer.if a good change takes place it doesn't happen overnight so hopefully whoever gets voted in we hope they will just do their best and if so get support of the country but only if they ban water charges and full fill most promises.
Hi phoenix,i am not politically minded at all.i couldnt care less if santa ran for enda kennys job ,but a few months ago i was in a lot of bother .i saw jacqui lewis a few times here in cavan said hello passed no remarks but when i saw her in town ,i was so distressed i could hardly drive my car.i asked her for help .she told me to meet her at her house which i needed directions for .i was there till 12 that night..i rang other councillors she helped me so much.only for her ,she is so down to earth so lovellyand she works for people .i asked ff and sinn fein for help ,they mustve lost my number
What gets me is the virtual cult status political parties have here, once you are born into FF/FG/LAB family, you are indoctrinated into an unquestioning loyalty to that party, I equate a lot of the party faithful to cult members, blindly following the doctrines of their leaders, endlessly repeating what ever the latest mantra their high priests tell them to. Even after all their leaders have done, even after all the lies, even after the utter economic devastation and humiliation of the country, people are still blinded to anything outside of the church of their party.

Phoenix I agree they all pee in the same pot. Dont think politics will change in Ireland, the awful debt we are now in....we are surfs. will be for years to come. Another budget comes in before Christmas... thats more Austerity.

Pheonix hard to implement that... so many people are doing ok thanks and wouldnt be the ones to be seen doing that...The majority or people here have a subservient nature, so much has been taken lying down, now the Watercharges when its not even drinkable in many counties, dying children with the Medical Card being taken off them. Quangos, I wont go on, its too depressing. The sad thing is, people wont do anything ,they will be afraid of change, just in case something happens... and the sheeps will vote inthe same crew or slightly different... same outcome. Sad.

Dunno, Belgium worked ok without a Gov. and the place didn't implode. As I said to HC earlier, money is only an incentive. The sheeple should listen to people like him. at least Jacque makes sense.
