Just wanted to ask if there are people on here who travel alone?
I have travelled to a few countries on my own and enjoyed many different cultures and its something I love doing,
Some people think of it as a little brave. As people worry a lot what might happen, but I don't worry like that and nothing real bad as ever happened to me.
So do people here travel alone to other countries, and if so write a little about your own experiences.

Yes, I have done it and loved it. I used to go to Eastern Europe yearly on my own and meet up with a few people in Kiev. Then we'd all head to a place that holds an interest to us all.
Socially, I found it better, as I wasn't 'tied' to the same group all the time, so I could do as and what I liked. If I didn't like a place, I'd just head off to somewhere else.
The only thing I had to do, was call someone daily with my itinerary so they'd know where I'd be and where I was headed to. That made me feel safer.
I travel on own regularly - from Spain to Cuba and everywhere in between.
I love the freedom of being able to do what I like, when I like.
The only time I miss having somebody there is for the evening meal, strangely!
Like you, some people think it is strange, or dangerous. But I am not stupid, I don't take any unnecessary risks, and I find that people are friendly and helpful in the main, no matter what country you are in.
I prefer to travel alone most of the time as I'm not responsible for anyone but me. When I travel by motorcycle it works out better as I'm usually the one everyone looks to as ride leader and that can wear a little thin some times so by myself is more of a pleasant experience. You just have to make sure you have done your due diligence on your equipment so that you are less vulnerable to break down.
I agree with you guys. I have been travelling eith friends and family before but then I end up on something I don't wanna do or I feel responsible for someone. When I am alone travelling I feel free, I always meet and speak with people and make new friends a long the way.

I think that is the beauty of travelling alone, you are free to do whatever you want and tend to make more of an effort to mix with people you meet along the way
Most of my travels have involved setting off on my own, sometimes meeting with a tour group in destinations that I would not feel safe in alone, but still having the opportunity to do my own thing and appreciate different cultures and landscapes and that makes me feel free too

I was a Road Captain for four years and I can relate

don't you think, sometimes, depending on where in the world, it is easier for men to travel alone than women?
