You can of course pick selectively examples of Brit wrongdoing, but overall they behaved with great restraint.
It's not surprising you haven't heard Irish people defend the british roll in the North....after all you have never lived in Ireland! If you had you would have come across many such people.
My reference to natives is towards those Belfast catholics who could have had good men like Gerry Fitt and Joe Hendron represent them but chose a terrorist instead (Adams) That choice was neither moral nor intelligent.
