I actually prefer LDRs. I don't want to be stalked and I also feel the person far away will put in more effort to make it work if they really want the to be in the relationship

In reality distance is an obstacle to finding love, this doesn't mean it can't happen but being far away from each other will take it's toll when it comes to trusting, keeping in touch long enough to to eventually meet in person, getting to know each another well enough to take that extra step and meet in person and even then leaving everything you have to be together.
