Taken today, Tuesday 6/24/14... My upside down tomato planter, covered with Cayenne Pepper, to keep squirrels from eating the tomato. Don't be confused with the red that you see... that is the pepper powder, the "maters" are still green...
Anyone have any "humane" ways to keep the squirrels at bay? If this fails, last resort is the new Pellet Rifle that was delivered yesterday. I hate to resort to this method, but something has to be done. ~JOHN~

TheresMyFriend: Then I run the risk of ending up with a high bar-tab, after they get addicted... and be harder to get rid of, after he/she tells all their friends....

squirrels are my favorite rodent - can't you just grow a few tomatoes just for your furry friend? Share in your garden's bounty?
My friend has a terrible time with them, because they chew on the wires. Sometimes it cuts off her telephone and sometimes it gets one electrocuted...

Perhaps chicken wire installed around the tomatoes will do the trick.

They are/were mine too... so cute and all... but finding out how deviant they can be... has put me on the defensive.... and I don't intend to lose this issue. The whole neighborhood, is having squirrel issues, so I'm not the only one with this destructive actions.
I don't envy your problem. I don't have squirrels in my yard but I do have a possum, and I had a snake but something killed it a few weeks ago. and of course lots of lizards, egrets, bluejays, and free roaming feral cats....

I know what you are faced with, Jane.... Many, many years ago... I lived in Hialeah... a few blocks from the race track... I got some good memories of it.
You have more evil critters to deal with, than what I care to deal with... haha
